Arsenal send scout to watch Udinese midfielder Jakub Jankto play against Andrea Belotti’s Torino in Serie A clash
Czech midfielder has been a revelation this season with five goals and recently attracted the interest of Stoke
ARSENAL sent scouts to watch Jakub Jankto during Udinese’s clash at Torino, according to reports in Italy.
The Czech midfielder has been a revelation in Serie A this season — and is thought to be close to agreeing a contract extension until 2021.
Currently, Jankto is one of the lowest earners in Serie A on £10,000-a-week, and is likely to soon put pen-to-paper on an improved deal following a breakthrough season in Italy’s top flight.
It is thought a bid of around £10million would attempt the — other — Bianconeri to sell.
Predominantly a central midfielder, he started his career in his hometown with Slavia Prague but joined Udinese at the age of 17.
Last season, he was sent on loan to Serie B side, Ascoli, where he came to the attention of the Gunners.
He netted five times in 34 appearances during his one campaign in Italy’s top tier.
And, on his return, he was straight into the Udinese first team.
He has already matched his goal scoring tally from the previous season — and also netted against Juventus and Inter Milan.
Jankto made his international debut in a 3-0 friendly victory over Lithuania on March 22.
And four days later, he made his competitive debut in Czech Republic’s 6-0 victory over San Marino.
Fellow Premier League target, Andrea Belotti was also in action in the weekend's match, but for Torino.
The highly-rated Italy striker netted a late equaliser as they drew 2-2 with Udinese.
