Cech has come under pressure from some Gunners fans this season, and back-up 'keeper David Ospina is likely to leave in the summer in search of regular first team football.

Schmeichel has excelled once again for the Foxes between the sticks, and played a major part in his side advancing through to the quarter-final stage of the Champions League - saving a penalty against Sevilla where he starred in both legs.

Now at 30, the Danish shot-stopper is at the peak of his powers and could be tempted by a move to North London where he will be sure to play in Europe once again next season.

Schemichel was named as the Danish Footballer of the Year for a second consecutive campaign, and is closing on 250 appearances for Leicester.

Wenger could be set to sign a new deal to extend his stay at the Emirates in the summer, and he is willing to bring in the former Leeds star to start a new era at the club.
