Wayne Rooney to Everton, Jordi Alba to Manchester United and Alexis Sanchez to Chelsea? Ten transfer which could go through this summer
Football Whispers have used their unique algorithm to identify which players could be on the move in the summer with Manchester United particularly busy
THE INTERNATIONAL break means there is a lack of club action for a fortnight but there are still plenty of transfer rumours around.
Football Whispers has a unique algorithm which works out the validity of each rumour and gives it a score out of five — the closer to five, the more likely the transfer is to happen.
Here are the 10 hottest Whispers right now…
Wayne Rooney – Manchester United to Everton – 3.9
Out of form and out of favour, Wayne Rooney’s time at Manchester United is coming to an end.
England’s all-time top scorer will be allowed to leave Old Trafford this summer and a return to first club Everton would be the sentimental choice for the 31-year-old.
Toffees boss Ronald Koeman has made no secret of his interest in bringing Rooney back to Goodison Park after 12 years away.
Antoine Griezmann – Atletico Madrid to Manchester United – 3.6
Manchester United transfer target Antoine Griezmann has an £86million release clause in his contract, something which Atletico boss Diego Simeone is concerned about.
Asked if he feared losing the Frenchman, Simeone replied: “Yes, because there is a termination clause. There is no security.”
Griezmann, 26, has 22 goals in 40 starts in all competitions this season.
Jordi Alba – Barcelona to Manchester United – 3.3
Jose Mourinho has a problem at left-back. Luke Shaw is out of favour under the Portuguese meaning Marcos Rojo has filled in for much of the season.
A move for Barcelona defender Jordi Alba would solve that problem. The 28-year-old has won 12 trophies with the Blaugrana, including La Liga, the Champions League and FIFA Club World Cup.
A World Cup and European Championships winner with Spain, Alba has made 14 La Liga starts this season.
Alexis Sanchez – Arsenal to Chelsea – 3.2
The Chelsea transfer target has reportedly turned down the offer of a new contract at Arsenal.
Now Alexis Sanchez’s future seems certain to lie away from the Emirates Stadium after another season of disappointment.
With Sanchez’s contract up next summer, the Gunners have little choice but to sell this summer and a move across the capital to the Premier League champions in waiting would be appealing.
Timo Werner – RB Leipzig to Liverpool – 3.1
It has been an impressive debut season at Leipzig for Liverpool transfer target Timo Werner who has bagged 14 goals in 22 Bundesliga starts – the best return of his career.
Reds boss Jurgen Klopp is determined to bolster his firepower this summer with Sadio Mane, on 12 Premier League goals, his top scorer.
Werner, 21, made his full debut for Germany in England’s 1-0 friendly defeat in Dortmund on Wednesday evening.
Bernardo Silva – Monaco to Bayern Munich – 3.1
There are a number of highly-rated young prospects at Monaco and Portuguese midfielder Bernardo Silva is just one of them.
The 22-year-old has six goals and seven assists in Ligue 1 this season and has been linked with Chelsea and Manchester United previously too.
Silva, who has won ten caps for Portugal, is valued at £70million.
Victor Lindelof – Benfica to Manchester United – 3.1
Swedish centre-back Victor Lindelof was heavily linked with Manchester United during the January transfer window but a deal for the 22-year-old did not materialise.
Reds boss Mourinho is targeting defensive reinforcements during the summer with Phil Jones and Chris Smalling struggling for form this season.
Lindelof, who has won 11 caps for Sweden, can also play at right-back.
Tiemoue Bakayoko – Monaco to Chelsea – 3.0
Another of the stars of Monaco’s run to the Champions League quarter-finals is holding midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko.
The 22-year-old has averaged three tackles and 2.9 interceptions per game in Europe and the Blues have reportedly agreed a contract with Bakayoko.
N’Golo Kante has been a revelation in holding midfield for Antonio Conte’s side this season but Bakayoko would add more depth.
Hector Bellerin – Arsenal to Barcelona – 2.9
The path between Arsenal and Barcelona is well worn. Hector Bellerin traded the Nou Camp for the Emirates Stadium in 2011 and has thrived in north London, becoming Arsene Wenger’s first-choice at right-back.
However, Barca are in the market for a new number two and the Spanish international would be the ideal fit.
Midfielder Sergi Roberto has played at right-back for much of the season with Aleix Vidal used rarely despite being a natural full-back.
Michael Keane – Burnley to Liverpool – 2.8
Former Manchester United centre-back Michael Keane did his prospects of a big move this summer no harm on Wednesday evening by impressing on his England debut against Germany.
Keane was a target for Premier League champions Leicester City last summer but the Clarets held firm in the face of a £15million bid from Claudio Ranieri’s side.
Burnley would find it tough to say no to a big offer a second time around, particularly if Liverpool come calling for the 24-year-old.
