, Los Blancos have already scouted Mbappe and see him as a potential future forward in the mould of their former Brazilian superstar Ronaldo.

A source at Real Madrid said: “Mbappe is a footballer that at one point could end up being a worldwide star.

Ronaldo is a legend at Real Madrid and played alongside current coach Zinedine Zidane

“He reminds us a lot of Ronaldo, who at that age dazzled at PSV Eindhoven or Henry when we wanted to bring him to Madrid next to Trezeguet.”

Such sales talk is typical of Real Madrid, who could be set for a summer clearout, with Monchi being touted as the new sporting director at the Bernabeu.

Monchi is ruthless and does not tend to tolerate players on big money who do not play or underperform.

But the lure for Mbappe of working with Zinedine Zidane, who is also French and of Algerian descent, could work in Real’s favour.

Zidane is still adored in his home country and according to AS he tried to recruit Mbappe for Real Madrid B when he was a youngster.

Monaco reportedly rejected a £95MILLION world record bid for Mbappe from a big Premier League club earlier this season.

But some sources reckon the final fee could rise to as high as £129m – which would steamroller the world record fee set by Paul Pogba when he moved from Juventus to Manchester United for £89million last summer.
