Germany vs England: Jermain Defoe, Jake Livermore and James Ward-Prowse get stuck into training ahead of friendly
Trio all desperate to start against Germany after working their way into Gareth Southgate's World Cup 2018 plans
JERMAIN DEFOE looked to be in fine spirits at St George’s Park today after winning his place back in the England squad.
The veteran striker has been in great form at Sunderland this season, banging in 14 league goals to keep their survival hopes alive.
And Defoe could now be set to lead the line against Germany on Wednesday as he was joined at training by West Brom midfielder Jake Livermore.
The former Hull star has just one Three Lions cap to his name and will be desperate to feature against the World Cup holders in Dortmund.
James Ward-Prowse also looked relaxed after being handed his first call-up to the senior side and was joined by Southampton teammate Nathan Redmond on the pitch.
Meanwhile, the likes of Marcus Rashford and Dele Alli took instructions from boss Gareth Southgate ahead of a potential partnership for this weekend’s World Cup qualifier against Lithuania.
Kyle Walker was put through his paces on an exercise bike while exiled Manchester City keeper Joe Hart worked on his catching technique after making the trip from Italy.
