Chelsea transfer news: Emerson Palmieri wanted from Roma as Antonio Conte looks to provide Marcos Alonso with competition
Blues in need of reinforcements for Champions League campaign next season and could start with move for Brazilian
CHELSEA are reportedly lining up a move for Roma left-back Emerson Palmieri.
Current first-choice Marcos Alonso has been terrific for the Blues this season and his position in the team is not under threat.
But Antonio Conte wants to bring in reinforcements ahead of Chelsea’s return to the Champions League.
And claims Roma star Palmieri is at the top of Conte’s wishlist after a stunning campaign in the Italian capital.
Roma also play with a five-man defence and Palmieri has stood out as one of the team’s most impressive performers with 29 appearances in all competitions.
The 22-year-old Brazilian joined Roma on loan from Santos last season and only made his move permanent at the end of 2016.
But Palmieri could now provide Alonso with some serious competition as Conte also targets signings in midfield and attack.
Monaco’s France international Tiemoue Bakayoko is being eyed to partner N’Golo Kante in the centre of the park.
While SunSport exclusively revealed that Stamford Bridge legend Didier Drogba will convince Romelu Lukaku to leave Everton for a London return.
