And Ravanelli has revealed how he wants to return to his former side to save them from Premier League relegation.

Ravanelli, who scored 17 goals in 35 appearances for Boro, said: “I’m so sorry Karanka was sacked.

“Last season he made an incredible work and probably this year he had some problems.

“But of course I would like to become the new manager. It’s my main goal and my dream to come back.

“I am and I will be so happy and proud if I will be the new manager of Boro in the next season.”

Ravanelli told SunSport in an exclusive interview how he still loves Boro fans after their support following his treble against Liverpool.

He added: “I’m a real fan of Boro because with me English supporters were always fantastic.

“They have a special place in my heart and I would like to embrace all of them, I cannot forget my first game at the Riverside.

“I made a hat-trick against Liverpool and my debut was judged as the best in the history for a foreign player in the Premier League, a great recognition.

“All was awesome for me and for my family too.”
