“It is true people have been putting a lot of doubt on Arsene's capability of coaching the team and managing the team but when you get to some situations you have to look at the players.”

Wenger axed Alexis Sanchez for the defeat against Liverpool last week and has also had star man Mesut Ozil on the bench for the last two games.

Vieira added: “I think some of the players have been letting Arsene down a lot. Coaches have responsibility but players have responsibility as well and when you are on the field, you can work all week about the game but when they are on the field the players have to fight, to jump, to compete and if you don’t do it then it is your problem.

“We can talk about Arsene but it is important for players to take responsibility and look at themselves in the mirror also.”
