Cristiano Ronaldo refuses to touch Confederations Cup in fear of jinxing Portugal this summer
Real Madrid ace claims he never holds a trophy unless he has won it in case it brings him bad luck
CRISTIANO RONALDO has refused to touch the Confederations Cup trophy - in case it brings Portugal bad luck this summer.
Ronaldo attended a special filming event for Fifa to promote the competition which will be held in Russia over the close season.
But despite proudly posing with the shiny gold trophy, the Real Madrid ace refused to put his hands on it out of superstition.
Ronaldo said: "I never touch the trophies, never. It brings you bad luck."
Ronaldo will lead European Champions Portugal's challenge in the tournament, which is used as a test event every four years ahead of the World Cup finals.
Portugal face host nation Russia along with New Zealand and Mexico in Group A of the eight-nation competition.
Germany, Cameroon, Chile and Australia make up Group B - and Ronaldo says he is eyeing an international trophy for the second year running.

He added: "I would like to win it, it would be a dream but there is still a lot of work to be done.
"The dream must always be there, now we will see. How the team will be by then, and how luck plays its part - it depends on many factors.
"I hope Portugal is lucky enough to win yet another trophy for the first time in history. It would be beautiful."
