SIR ALEX FERGUSON admits he got it wrong about current Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho – and insists he is now the right man to succeed him at Old Trafford.
The Special One was one of the names in the mix to replace the Scot when he retired in 2013, but the club hierarchy had doubts about Mourinho’s suitability for the United hot seat.
Fergie had concerns about Mourinho’s confrontational approach, while club legend Sir Bobby Charlton also expressed doubts amid fears the club’s worldwide reputation could be damaged.

Mourinho then rejoined Chelsea after three years at Real Madrid, while United chose Everton boss David Moyes to kick off the post-Fergie era.
It took Mourinho being sacked by Chelsea and United dispensing with Louis Van Gaal for the Portuguese coach to finally end up at Old Trafford, the job which he is said to have coveted back in 2103.
