Ibrahimovic, 35, enjoyed a 16-year association with Nike through the peak years of his career at Juventus, Inter, Barcelona, AC Milan and Paris Saint-Germain before joining United on a one-year deal last summer.

But his association with the sportswear giants broke down in the past few months.

Zlat has even switched boots during the season.

He played in Nikes against Southampton on August 19 and wore adidas against the Saints in Sunday’s EFL Cup final at Wembley.

It is a bizarre situation for any top-level player to be in — let alone arguably the most commercially attractive pro in the game at the moment.

Ibrahimovic’s blossoming strike partner Marcus Rashford, 19, is less than a year into a five-year boot deal with Nike, which is worth around £2million.
