San Siro legend Nicola Berti reckons the Paris Saint-Germain midfielder is a better fit for the team than Geoffrey Kondogbia.

Berti, 49, told : “Who would I sign? I’d take Verratti in place of Geoffrey Kondogbia, as I’m not really a fan.

“If [Inter owners] Suning have the money, I’d sign Verratti.”

Verratti, 24, is being chased by Premier League leaders Chelsea and Barcelona.

Despite constant speculation over his future, Verratti insists he is happy to stay in Paris.

He said: “I’m pleased to attract interest from the big clubs, but I don’t want to change.

“I am part of a great project and we want to become one of the top three in Europe.”
