Leicester City winger Marc Albrighton has angrily reacted to claims he played a part in Claudio Ranieri and insists he has nothing but respect for him
The Foxes man thrived last season under the guidance of the Italian, and has praised Ranieri for his support after a family member was killed
MARC ALBRIGHTON has lambasted claims that he played a part in the sacking of Claudio Ranieri at Leicester.
The winger insists he has nothing but respect for the Italian and has praised him effusively after he was axed last week despite guiding the Foxes to the Premier League title last season.
According to speculation, Kasper Schmeichel, Jamie Vardy and a handful of senior players met with owner Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha to discuss their loss of faith.

However Albrighton strenuously the claims, he said: “I rarely comment on press stories, however I am very angry and upset with The Times’ article and other speculation suggesting I was involved in any discussions or meetings regarding the manager’s departure.
“This is totally incorrect. I had a good relationship with the manager and total respect for what he achieved for the club.
“I spoke with him after he left and thanked him personally for everything he did for me.
“The first day I met the manager he told me he believed in me; before the last game of his LCFC reign, he told me the same.
“I will never be truly able to thank him for everything he has helped me achieve and the faith he has shown in me and knows that I always did my best for him.”
He joined Leicester after he fell down the pecking order at Aston Villa, and eventually went on loan to Championship side Wigan Athletic at the end of the 3013/14 season.
And Albrighton has heaped praise on Ranieri for the way he supported him after his partner’s mother was one of the victims of the 2015 Tunisia terror attacks.
He added: “At the worst time of my family’s life, the manager helped me achieve something I didn’t think in my wildest dreams would be possible.
“It helped us to be positive about something when everything was negative.”
