Cole got the nickname Cashley after he was left "trembling with anger" when Arsenal offered him a new deal on £55,000 a week compared to Chelsea's £90,000 a week.
The footballer was driving at the time and was so outraged he had to pull over.
He wrote: "When I heard Jonathan Barnett (player's agent) repeat the figure of £55K, I nearly swerved off the road.
"'He (former Arsenal director David Dein) is taking the p***, Jonathan!', I yelled down the phone.
"I was so incensed. I was trembling with anger. I couldn't believe what I'd heard."
