Former Everton and Real Madrid star Royston Drenthe reveals how he ‘p****d off’ Jose Mourinho

ROYSTON DRENTHE has spoken out on the time he 'p****d off' Jose Mourinho and admitted their was no working relationship between the pair.

The recently retired former Real Madrid and Everton left-back played under the Manchester United boss during his time at the Bernabeu.

Drenthe played in Madrid for five years from 2007 until 2012 but was shipped out on loan to bottom of the league Hercules when the Portuguese boss took charge in 2010.

However it was when his loan spell ended when he angered Mourinho.

Reported by the , he said: "Mourinho was a bit p****d off when I came back to Real.

"Hercules to not pay my wages and I went on strike. But Mourinho said I should have represented Real Madrid much better.

"I tried to become a star in Madrid and people should have respect for me because I tried. But Mourinho made me out to be a difficult guy.

"I did not have a good relationship with him, but he forgets that I was not getting my wages at the loan club."

Drenthe later spent a season on-loan at David Moyes' Everton but was told to stay away from the club after constantly turning up late for training.

The 29-year-old announced his retirement from football to pursue a career in creating music. 

He has recently released a teaser video ahead of the of his new rap number called Paranoia.
