Lionel Messi, Andres Iniesta, Sergio Busquets and Gerard Pique were all part of the Barca team that embarrassed Jose Mourinho’s Madrid at the Nou Camp in November 2010.

But superstar quartet were helpless in Paris as Di Maria and Co ran riot to put one foot in the Champions League quarter-finals.

The ex-Manchester United ace opened the scoring at the Parc des Princes with a brilliant free-kick – before doubling up with a second-half curler.

Julian Draxler and Edinson Cavani also netted to pile on the misery for the stunned visitors, in what Di Maria hailed as a “perfect” performance.

Speaking to BeIN Sports, he added: “It was a perfect night and we played the perfect match," he told BeIN.

“I'm happy for the team and I think we deserved the result. We ran, we worked, and we fought.

“It is impossible to trust we have beaten the best team in the world, we have to work like we did today in the next match.

“Thank God 2017 is turning out all right and to be able to win a very important game.

“Just as we scored four against them, we have to continue working hard to be in the quarterfinals.”
