"But I get the impression from even looking at him, that's it, I think that's it.

"He actually mentioned while we were talking last night, that it's coming to the end and I have never heard him say that."

"A lovely guy. But he looks tired and winded.

"Like someone has just whopped him in the stomach.

"Someone is going to ask me, ‘Will he go at the end of the season?’ I’d say I think he will."

The boiling point amongst frustrated Arsenal fans was their crushing 3-1 defeat to Chelsea last time out.

This led to Wenger calling for unity amongst fans - as supporters call for him to be sacked.

Wenger said: “What matters is not the opinion of people but how we respond.

“We focus on the next game and do not give importance to one fan.

“In the football club it is important for different opinions but we focus on what matters to us, not the opinions of people, but the next match.

“This is a period where we have to stick together.

"Ideally you want everybody to be happy, but Arsenal is made of special strengths and one of those is to be united."

Following the backlash from angry fans, Gary Neville branded one fan an "idiot" after he held up a sign reading: “Enough is enough time to go.”

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain liked a tweet calling for Arsene Wenger to quit Arsenal on his official Twitter page

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain also came in for stick after 'liking' a post on social media of an Arsenal fan video calling for Wenger to leave.

Wright said: "What’s happened with Arsenal’s players and all the teams he has built from the last eight-nine years, they have let him down badly.

"If he does leave at the end of the season there’s going to be a lot of changes in respect of players. They should have a long, hard look at themselves.

"He’s been so faithful and put so much faith into these teams that has been misplaced."
