Manchester United legend Sir Alex Ferguson makes shock appearance at Wigan Athletic training session
Old Trafford icon pays visit to friend Warren Joyce at Latics' headquarters
SIR ALEX FERGUSON made a shock appearance at Wigan’s training HQ to give old pal Warren Joyce a boost.
The former Manchester United chief turned up to see his former under 21 coach and his players before their crunch clash at Fulham.
Ferguson has strong links with Latics through his friendship with owner Dave Whelan and he was happy to give the place a lift with a visit.

Joyce got the Wigan job with a reference from Ferguson and is trying to get an Old Trafford feel to the Championship strugglers.
A Wigan insider said: “It was a big surprise to see Sir Alex at training.
“It had the place talking and buzzing.”
Wigan are currently second bottom of the Championship, five points from safety.
