Arsenal and West Ham on alert as Alexandre Lacazette reveals he wants to leave Lyon this summer

French striker a Gunners and Hammers target and admits the time has come to move on

ALEXANDRE LACAZETTE has put Arsenal and West Ham on alert after admitting he wants to quit Lyon at the end of the season.

Lacazette has been a top target for the Gunners and West Ham for the past year but both clubs found it impossible to persuade Lyon to sell their star striker.

But now they could both be about to revive their interest in the 25-year-old after he revealed he wants to test himself elsewhere from next season.

Lacazette said: "It think it's come, the right moment.

"I think that this summer will be the time where I will need a change of scenery and discover something else, still with the idea of advancing and progressing in terms of football and as a person.

"I am going to continue to work in the hope that good opportunities will come this summer."

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger failed with a bid of £30million for the France international last summer as Lyon held out for a huge asking price.

West Ham twice thought they had got the deal over the line earlier in the close season for a fee of £32 m, only for Lyon to up their demands to £42m.

That interest came after a season in which Lacazette scored 21 goals - and the striker has continued to impress this season with 18 already to his name.

Such consistent form will lead to Lyon sticking to their high valuation for the forward, which will test West Ham's desire to get a deal done after their poor buys last summer.

But Arsenal would be able to come up with the money to buy Lacazette providing boss Wenger finally decides to splash out big on a top striker.
