Ex-Liverpool, Sunderland and QPR striker Djibril Cisse retires from football… to become a DJ

Champions League winner has decided to pursue other passions including working on his clothing label

FORMER Liverpool striker Djibril Cisse will swap the football pitch for the DJ decks.

The 35-year-old officially announced he was hanging up his boots having failed to find a new club this season.

And the striker, who will fondly be remembered by Liverpool fans for scoring a penalty in the Champions League final win over AC Milan, has decided to pursue his other passions.

The Frenchman will kick on with his DJ career alongside working to promote his clothing brand 'Mr Lenoir.'

Cisse previously quit football in October 2015 having failed to shrug off a hip injury.

But after successful surgery, he was open to offers to join a new club but failed to find a potential club after leaving Reunion Premier League side Saint-Pierroise.

The ex-Sunderland man is already building up quite a reputation in the music industry having played a DJ set ahead of a Mariah Carey gig in Paris last year.

, Cisse said: "I loved being a footballer, and so far the ball has been my life.

"I would have liked to continue playing but I must admit today that football is over.

"With the same passion, I will devote myself wholeheartedly to my career as DJ, producer and consultant, as well as developing my clothing brand.

"Thank you for all your support. The adventure continues, another life begins. A lion never dies."

Cisse won five major club honours during his playing career including the FA Cup with Liverpool, where he scored the opening goal, a Champions League winners medal, the French cup with Auxerre and the Greek League and domestic cup with Panathinaikos.
