Frank Lampard trolled after retiring from New York Red Bulls… but joke backfires on MLS side

England international's former rivals showed video of Lampard being nutmegged during his time in the MLS

TRIBUTES have poured in since Frank Lampard announced his retirment from football but New York Red Bulls have tried mocking the footballing legend.

The 38-year-old hung up his boots on Thursday following a two-year stint at New York City and this led to a rather insulting send off from their arch rivals New York Red Bulls.

The clip shows ex Leeds United striker and current New York Red Bulls forward Mike Grella nutmegging and skipping away from Lampard.

They captioned the video with the word "Bye" with two waving emojis and fans on twitter have blasted their tasteless tribute.

With fans claiming the Chelsea hero is more famous than their club!
