Arsenal 2 Watford 1: Troy Deeney pays tribute to Graham Taylor and says win is for late Hornets boss
Former England manager Taylor's funeral to take place on Wednesday and Deeney felt win was fitting tribute to late great
TROY DEENEY fired Watford to a shock win over title hopefuls Arsenal and declared: 'That was for Graham Taylor'.
The Hornets came out firing at the Emirates on Tuesday night and raced into an early lead when Younes Kaboul hit the target after 10 minutes.
Deeney then helped himself to a goal three minutes later as Watford held on for the win despite seeing Alex Iwobi pull one back for the Gunners with half an hour to play.
But it was also a sombre day for the Watford faithful, with late boss Taylor's funeral taking place on Wednesday.
The former England manager passed away earlier this month, with tributes pouring in from all over the world.
And Deeney feels his side's excellent win over Arsenal was the most fitting honour possible for Taylor, who enjoyed a lot of success during two spells at Vicarage Road.
Deeney said: "We were much the better team in the first half.
