Mamadou Sakho closer to Crystal Palace move after Liverpool defender is spotted in London

Sam Allardyce is looking to draft in the unwanted Frenchman to bolster his defence at Selhurst Park

CRYSTAL PALACE target Mamadou Sakho has been spotted in London.

His representatives have proposed that he joins Palace on loan for the rest of the season with the guarantee of a permanent move in the summer if he helps the Eagles to avoid relegation.

But Liverpool want to sell the out of favour French international immediately and will need some persuading to agree to a loan move.

Now Palace must decide whether to end their interest in Sakho and make an improved offer for Senegalese international Kara Mbodji.

Anderlecht have also rejected two bids from Leicester for the 27-year-old central defender and are holding out for £12.75milion.

Palace have already spent £22million during this transfer window to sign Jeffrey Schlupp and Patrick Van Aaanholt.

But manager Sam Allardyce believes his defence needs further strengthening for the relegation scrap.

Klopp told Sakho he had no future at the club after being exiled from the first team.

The 26-year-old has not appeared for Liverpool’s first team this season but has featured for the Under-23s.

Sakho has not been able to gain a place in the first team after turning up late to a team meeting and a training session during preseason.

Sakho last appeared for the Reds in April 2015 in a 4-0 Merseyside derby victory against Everton at Anfield.

Palace could face late for Sakho after Galatasaray were linked with signing the player on loan at the beginning of January.

Sakho told Canal Football Club: “It is true that I turned up late. There was a rule that I should have observed. I do not at all see myself as above the rules, I respect everyone.

“I paid my fine, I was sanctioned, I apologised to my team-mates and my manager. Aside from that… I do not want to go into the controversies.

“I work a lot, I have the chance to train with the reserve team, which allows me to keep up. And beside that I have my trainer. So I work a lot to stay on top of my game.”
