EVERTON boss Ronald Koeman has revealed the club will make a late swoop for defender Michael Keane.

But the Dutch boss admits that the Toffees are not the only club after his signature.

The Burnley centre-back has attracted plenty of Premier League interest including from Pep Guardiola's Manchester City after a string of fine performances in The Clarets' back-line.

And at the age of 24, Keane is tipped to become a regular in the England side and Koeman is keen to add him to Everton's ageing defence.

When asked whether Keane was one of his transfer targets, Koeman said: "Keane is one of the players on the list, like some of the defenders in that position. But I think he's on more lists in different teams.

"We know what we want but we don't sign players just to bring numbers in the squad.

"If we can't sign players to bring quality to the team, then we wait until the summer."

Burnley boss Sean Dyche is desperate to keep hold of Keane until at least the summer where he may be forced to cash in on the highly-rated talent.

And with his contract expiring in the summer of 2018, his future away from Turf Moor looks increasingly likely.

With Everton's Phil Jagielka reaching the end of his career and centre-back partner Ashley Williams turning 33-years-old this year, Koeman is plotting for the future.
