Brazil legend Rivaldo’s attacking midfielder son set to join Serie B side Latina
Rivaldinho has followed his dad to Europe but must serve his apprenticeship by working his way up the league ladder
BRAZILIAN legend Rivaldo's son is on the verge of joining Serie B side Latina.
Rivaldinho, aged 21, is an attacking midfielder currently at Internacional in Portugal, who are managed by his dad.
Latina are keen on a loan deal for the youngster who has attracted rave reviews but is yet to justify his vast potential.
Rivaldinho began his professional career in his homeland with Mogi Mirim before moving to Boavista and Esporte Clube XV de Novembro.
He joined his father's club last summer and has been playing in the B team.
Now the idea is to get him even more game time with Latina, who lie 16th in the table with just four wins in 22 matches.
Rivaldinho can play either on the wing or as an attacking midfielder and, like his dad, has a cute left foot.
Back in 2015 Rivaldo and Rivaldinho both scored goals for Mogi Mirim in a 3-1 win over Macae in a Brazilian second division game.
Rivaldo, the club’s president, came out of retirement to help his team overcome a difficult start to the season.
The 1999 Ballon d'Or winner was renowned for his bending free kicks, overhead kicks, technique and ball striking from distance.
