Crystal Palace boss weighing up move for Uruguay defender Martin Caceres

CRYSTAL PALACE are keen on former Juventus defender Martin Caceres.
It seems that Caceres, who also played for Barcelona, is set to link up with Palace for training so that boss Sam Allardyce can assess his fitness levels.
Big Sam will then decide whether to offer him a short-term deal.

Caceres, 29, is still a free agent after leaving Juventus last summer when his contract expired.
A number of clubs have been linked with him, but the Uruguayan has not taken up any of the offers.
He is now keen to fix himself up with a new club, and struggling Palace are ready to offer him the chance to play in the Premier League.

Allardyce is understandably desperate to strengthen his defence as he has yet to win a league game since taking over at Selhurst Park.
And Caceres offers flexibility as he can play anywhere across the back line and he boasts a wealth of experience.
The defender still has plenty to offer despite having failed to nail down a regular berth with the Old Lady during his five years in Turin.
He joined the Italian champions on loan from Barcelona in 2009/10 and started 95 league games - 37 of them on loan at Sevilla - over seven seasons in a career that, in truth, has never really taken off.
