Wayne Rooney’s Manchester United future in doubt as Jose Mourinho also confirms Ashley Young could leave before transfer deadline
Manchester United boss gave no assurances over Rooney's future as he also said Ashley Young could be leaving
WAYNE ROONEY’S future at Manchester United remains in doubt, with a move to China beckoning.
As revealed in SunSport on Saturday, the player has decided to cut ties with the club now he has broken Sir Bobby Charlton’s scoring record.
But rather than go in the summer, Roo could move next month as the Chinese transfer window is open until February 28.
Manager Jose Mourinho gave no assurances on Rooney’s future when asked about the England captain after the 4-0 FA Cup fourth-round win over Wigan.
Instead the Old Trafford chief replied: “The only player that I am aware of possibly leaving is Ashley Young, a player I would love to keep.
“I am not happy if he leaves, that is why he didn’t play today because I don’t know if he is going to stay.”
Young, 31, has also been linked with a move to China but could stay in England, with Everton and Swansea also interested.
Rooney, also 31, was given a golden boot by Sir Bobby before kick-off yesterday having passed his goal record with a 250th United strike at Stoke last weekend.
