Arsenal stars go mad after Roger Federer’s Australian Open win but Spanish team-mates are left devastated

Granit Xhaka uploaded a video to Instagram after his Swiss compatriot sealed his 18th Grand Slam of his career

ROGER FEDERER'S Australian Open victory over Rafael Nadal had half of Arsenal's stars celebrating whilst the Spanish team-mates were left watching on is despair.

Granit Xhaka, a compatriot to Swiss Federer, videoed the moment one of the greatest tennis players of all-time won his 18th Grand Slam title.

During a gym session at London Colney's training ground, the likes of Mesut Ozil, Shkodran Mustafi and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain leaped around in delight as they took time out to celebrate Federer's win.

But Arsenal's Spanish contingency were left gutted after seeing Nadal fall flat in the five-set thriller.

In a video posted to Instagram, Lucas Perez, Nacho Monreal and Hector Bellerin could only watch the TV in silence as their team-mates couldn't contain their excitement.

Alongside the video, Xhaka wrote the caption: "What a game!!! The KING is back, the one and only Roger Federer #legend."

And the emotions shown by Arsenal's stars was shared by Federer who failed to hold back the tears.

The 35-year-old took six months out of the sport but returned with a vengeance to claim the first Grand Slam of the year.

After his win, he said: "I’m out of words. I’d like to congratulate Rafa on an amazing comeback. Four, five months ago were could barely play and now look at us.

“Tennis is a tough sport, there are no draws – but if there were, I would happily have taken one and shared it with Rafa.

“I just want to thank everyone who has helped me get back here on a night like this.”
