Youngster has already won a senior cap for his country and has been tipped to become the next Roberto Carlos
MONACO have beaten Manchester City, Liverpool and Inter Milan to the signing of highly-rated Brazilian youngster Jorge.
The left-back has already been compared to Real Madrid legend Roberto Carlos and is one of the most heralded players to emerge from his country since Neymar after winning a first senior international cap earlier this month.
His club Flamengo confirmed the deal but did not disclose any details of the transfer.
However, French newspaper L’Equipe via claims Jorge has joined Monaco for a bargain £7million, making him their fourth and final non-EU player alongside Radamel Falcao, Fabinho and Jemerson.
It’s also believed the Ligue 1 leaders fought off impressive competition from Premier League duo Man City and Liverpool as well as Italian giants Inter Milan.
Jorge made 82 appearances in total over two seasons with Flamengo, scoring five goals in the process.
And he will now be looking to establish himself as a major name in European football with the possibility of eventually earning a move to one of the continent’s top clubs.
