Wayne Rooney: Manchester United star hilariously hits back at troll who asks whether he has any GCSEs

Club's record goalscorer took the trolling in his stride after helping side reach EFL Cup final at the expense of Hull

IT’S said that a footballer’s brain is in his boots.

But Wayne Rooney bucked the trend with his witty response to an online troll questioning the Manchester United icon’s intelligence.

Rooney has just become his club’s leading all-time goalscorer after netting a stunning last-minute free-kick to draw against Stoke last weekend.

The England skipper was also in action last night as United reached the EFL Cup final at the expense of Hull – despite losing on the night.

Rooney then took to Twitter praising United’s fans who had spent the entire night singing their hearts out.

He wrote: “Have to say our fans tonight was unbelievable.”

But this prompted a response from one user who questioned Rooney’s grasp of the English language, with @UtdJW saying: “Does Rooney have any GCSEs seriously?”

But it was multi-millionaire Rooney who had the last laugh, casually replying “No I don’t”, complete with double sunglasses emojis.

Rooney’s response came on the back of reports linking him with a stunning move to the Chinese Super League.

It’s claimed that Shanhai Shenhua – who landed Carlos Tevez earlier this month – have offered Rooney weekly wages of £600,000.

But it seems unlikely he’ll leave United any time soon as he targets more goals to put distance between himself and Sir Bobby Charlton.
