His stunning fiance Francesca Cormanni has been searching for their next pad over the last few weeks.
Inter Milan are believed to be close to agreeing a deal for Darmian, who wants to make a return to Italy.
A source said: “Matteo is looking for a place in Milan. He has contacted an estate agent in the city.
“He is looking for a spacious apartment in a very nice area. His girlfriend will pick the house.
“It cannot be coincidence that he is looking for a new house. Inter Milan have been after him for a while.
“He is from a small town near Milan. The couple are passionate about interior design and have fixed-up places in the past.”
Inter have been long-term admirers of the ex-Torino defender, who used to play for their bitter rivals AC Milan.
And the Nerazzurri are trying to get ex-Newcastle full-back Davide Santon off their books, to free up wages.
But it is thought any deal for Darmian may have to wait until the summer, as there are no takers for Santon.
Former Palermo ace Darmian has made 38 appearances and scored one goal for United since joining them in 2015.
