Jose Mourinho gives order of the boot to Manchester United ball boys and girls

Old Trafford boss reckons they were too slow fetching the ball back into play and recruits new crew from United Academy

JOSE MOURINHO has changed the ball boys and girls at Old Trafford because the ball wasn’t being delivered back into play quickly enough.

The Manchester United manager decided to wield the axe because he wanted to increase the pace of play when his team is attacking.

According to the Daily Mirror, he drafted in youngsters from United’s Under-16s for the 1-1 draw with Liverpool last Sunday after growing impatient with the previous standard.

Traditionally, the Manchester United Foundation provided the ball boys and girls but the ever-efficient Mourinho wanted a more organised and tactically aware operation.

“Prior to that, the task was carried out through the Manchester United Foundation but the manager changed it against Liverpool and brought in boys from one of the Academy teams.
