Robbie Keane transfer: Veteran striker claims that he has host of Championship clubs lining up to do a deal
Keane has been linked with move to Preston this month
ROBBIE KEANE has confirmed that he is being lined up by Championship clubs.
The veteran striker, 36, is a free agent after his six-year stint with MLS outfit LA Galaxy came to an end.
Preston have been linked with a move for the former Tottenham, Liverpool, Leeds and Coventry hitman.
And Keane, who scored a record 68 goals in 146 caps for Republic of Ireland, says admits that he is in demand and that he has no plans to hang up his boots any time soon.
Keane told : “I had to knock back a couple of offers... Maybe a little too far away.
"As I said, I've got a few offers on the table at the moment, I've had a lot of people asking me to come back to Leeds, Wolves and so on.
"Great clubs I've played for, but you can't go somewhere you've not been offered.

"There's been a few offers from the Championship and a few other sniffs here and there, but I can't really comment too much.
"Definitely haven't heard anything from Leeds or Wolves, but a few other Championship teams which I don't really want to mention too much, as it wouldn't be fair on them."
Keane says that he is not surprised that Zlatan Ibrahimovic has been offered a new Manchester United deal.
The pair of strikers are both in the mid-30s, but Keane insists that pace is not an essential part of a striker's artillery.
Keane added: “I love playing the game and United are rightly trying to tie him down.
"He’s never relied on lightning pace like a Michael Owen. His quality around the box is second to none. He’s an absolute joy to watch."
