The Italian has only seen his side score two goals in that time and will be hoping a loan move for Zarate can get his team firing.

Zarate, 29, who has had spells with Queens Park Rangers, West Ham and Birmingham City, has had controversial moments throughout his career.

After being dropped for a game by QPR at Liverpool, Zarate stormed out and returned to his home in London. He was banned and fined for his behaviour.

The Argentinian was relegated with both Birmingham and Queens Park Rangers shortly after joining them.

At Lazio, Zarate caused controversy by apparently giving a fascist salute whilst watching his team.

Not long after joining Fiorentina, the 29-year-old was sent off for grabbing an opponent by the neck but Mazzarri feels he can tame him.

Watford, who travel to Bournemouth on Saturday, are currently 14th.
