MANCHESTER UNITED legend Nemanja Vidic believes his former club are OUT of the title race following the draw with Liverpool.
The Red Devils trail leaders Chelsea by a massive 12 points after being held at Old Trafford on Sunday.
United fans were starting to feel confident about their team’s chances after winning their previous six league games.
And Jose Mourinho's men were offered a glimmer of hope when Chelsea’s own winning streak came to an end against Tottenham earlier this month.
But the point against Liverpool has now seen the Red Devils slip further behind, with the Blues cruising to a 3-0 win over Leicester on Saturday.
And Vidic feels Mourinho will struggle to close the gap between now and the end of the season, with United also having to contend with Manchester City, Arsenal, Liverpool and Tottenham’s respective challenges.
Vidic told : “Realistically we are out of the title race. That’s my opinion. But in recent weeks, the way we have played is encouraging. If we keep playing like that then the top three is our target.
