David Beckham pays emotional tribute to Manchester United staff member in sentimental Instagram post

Becks returned to his former stomping ground Old Trafford with son Romeo

DAVID BECKHAM returned to Old Trafford at the weekend and paid tribute to an old friend.

The ex-Manchester United favourite was in the stands with son Romeo to watch his former side draw 1-1 with Liverpool.

But despite the result, Beckham was delighted to have met up with Cathy, a receptionist at United's Carrington training ground.

He uploaded a picture to his 32.1million Instagram followers of the duo embracing along with the caption: "This wonderful lady used to look after me at Manchester United and it's always so amazing seeing her.

"Cathy has worked at Manchester United for almost 49 years, a truly remarkable achievement and a very special lady."

Beckham and his son were snapped in the stands wearing matching flat caps as Zlatan Ibrahimovic grabbed a dramatic late equaliser following Manchester United's dominant second half.

And the 41-year-old couldn't resist a selfie with his second son outside the Theatre of Dreams.

Alongside the picture he wrote: "Fun day back home... The little man grinned from ear to ear."

Beckham has been enjoying his return to England and has spent time visiting his favourite places.

Last week he went to an old local pie and mash shop - just up the road from where he used to live.
