The internet has taken a massive swipe at Chelsea after images of their proposed new-look Stamford Bridge were released

FOR Chelsea, Wednesday was a momentous day which marked the beginning of a new era, but for Twitter it was a great opportunity to tell the Blues that their new stadium looks like a food dicer.

The Premier League leaders unveiled bold new 'futuristic' plans for their 60,000-seater stadium- but not everyone approves.

Twitter reacted with typical hilarity to the club's proposed redevelopment of  Stamford Bridge, as internet trolls came out en masse to give their two pence worth.

Before Chelsea can begin any expansion of their  ground they must first wait for the Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan to give his backing of the scale up.

A club statement read: “We are grateful that planning permission was granted for the redevelopment of our home.

“This is just the latest step, although a significant one that we have to take before we can commence work.”
