FOR Chelsea, Wednesday was a momentous day which marked the beginning of a new era, but for Twitter it was a great opportunity to tell the Blues that their new stadium looks like a food dicer.

It is fair to say that the new Stamford Bridge - or Game of Thrones colosseum, as it has been dubbed online - design has garnered mixed reviews.

Before Chelsea can begin any expansion of their ground they must first wait for the Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan to give his backing of the scale up.
A club statement read: “We are grateful that planning permission was granted for the redevelopment of our home.
“This is just the latest step, although a significant one that we have to take before we can commence work.”
