Striker receives massive pay rise after joining promotion-chasing Owls from Tykes
Sheffield Wednesday won the signing race for striker Sam Winnall by offering him FOUR times his wages.
Hot shot Winnall joined the Owls promotion push in a controversial switch from neighbours Barnsley.
And he will pocket a deal worth £18,000-a-week at Hillsborough.
The staggering pay hike dwarfs his Barnsley salary and meant the Owls saw off rivals Brentford and Norwich in the chase.
Winnall was out of contract at Barnsley this summer, so they have had to accept a fee of £500,000 plus extras if Wednesday go up.
The 25-year-old has bagged 11 goals so far this season in just 23 appearances.
He will be hoping to make his debut for his new employers when they entertain Huddersfield on Saturday.
Barnsley will now join the chase for Grimsby striker Omar Bogle and made a bid to bring Sam Morsy back from Wigan on a permanent basis.
