Manchester United transfer news: Victor Lindelof deal to go ahead as Benfica and Vasteras agree sell-on fee

Transfer to Old Trafford was being delayed by former club's demands but all parties have now agreed numbers

MANCHESTER UNITED are reportedly ready to push ahead with a £38million deal for Victor Lindelof after Benfica reached an agreement with Swedish club Vasteras over his sell-on fee.

The Red Devils made a huge attempt to land Lindelof late last month but saw the deal held up by the defender’s former club.

Part-timers Vasteras were determined to recoup 20 per cent of the transfer money – which works out to around £7.2m.

But the claims that after tough negotiations, Vasteras will now settle for half that amount.

And it spells good news for Jose Mourinho, who is finally able to bring Lindelof to Old Trafford despite claiming he’s not in the market for players right now.

Lindelof can now expect a monster pay rise at Old Trafford

The versatile 22-year-old is said to have already been assigned the No. 2 shirt and will compete for a place at centre-back or right-back.

Lindelof is also set to see his bank balance rise sharply, with his salary of £350,000-per-year now soaring to an astonishing £115,000-per-WEEK.

It’s unlikely United will make any further signings in January once Lindelof’s deal has been completed.

James Rodriguez will be staying put at Real Madrid until the summer while Atletico Madrid are reluctant to part ways with Antoine Griezmann midway through the season.
