West Ham close in on £12.5million deal for Brentford striker Scott Hogan after previous bid rejected

West Ham are closing on a £12.5million deal for Brentford's prolific striker Scott Hogan.

Once again, the Premier League strugglers failed to land him with an improved £10m bid this week for the highly-rated striker.

Former Rochdale man Hogan has netted 14 times for the Bees this season after battling back from knee ligament surgery, and has attracted a string of top-flight clubs including Watford.

But the two London clubs have since held further talks and hope to reach a conclusion with Brentford due to pay a 30 per cent sell-on to Hogan's former club Rochdale, report the .

Under-pressure boss Slaven Bilic hopes the former Rochdale striker can have an immediate impact on his misfiring Premier League side.

West Ham also asked about Southampton's Shane Long and had a bid for Hull winger Robert Snodgrass rejected.

And they are also waiting to see if Jermain Defoe will ask to leave Sunderland before returning with an improved bid, after their £6m offer was rejected.
