Millwall 3 Bournemouth 0: Steve Morison, Shaun Cummings and Shane Ferguson dump Cherries out of FA Cup

LEAGUE ONE side Millwall pulled off a big shock by stunning Eddie Howe's men.

Veteran striker Steve Morison headed the opener for Neil Harris' side in the 26th minute before the Lions grabbed a second through Shaun Cummings.

On the balance of play, it was certainly a deserved win over the Premier League side.

Millwall sub Shane Ferguson grabbed the third to finish off a terrific move deep into stoppage time.

The Den faithful will now be dreaming of a repeat of 2004 when the Lions it all the way to the final.

STATS, FACTS, GOALS & LOLS

• It is a big week for Millwall - and it got off to a decent start. Also on Wednesday, Lewisham council are expected to have a compulsory purchase order approved to buy parts of the land around the Den and sell them on to a mysterious offshore developer. Although they expect to lose the decision, Millwall will then appeal and it could drag on for months. The situation is still an absolute disgrace.
• Lions boss Neil Harris kept an unchanged team for a fifth game in a row. Eddie Howe made 11 changes from the side which threw away a 3-0 lead to draw 3-3 with Arsenal on Tuesday. Incredibly, Bournemouth’s team still cost £42m.
  

• Cherries injury-jinxed defender Tyrone Mings was making only his third appearance of the season – and fifth in 18 months since arriving from Ipswich for £8m.
• It is strange seeing wearing Millwall having blue and white stripes on their home shirt. This season, they are celebrating 50 years of their 59 game unbeaten run at The Den and have not worn this type of kit since 1967. They should have consigned this kit to the history books, also.
• Bournemouth striker Lewis Grabban was making a rare start – just his sixth appearance this season. He spent three years at Millwall until 2011 and was probably expecting a bit of abuse during the game. He was certainly spot on.
  

• Morison did well to get away from his marker to deliver a glancing header from Shaun Williams’ corner for the opener. As you can imagine, the ground became a bit noisy. It was Morison’s 13th goal of the season but also his 80th goal for Millwall. This made him the fifth all-time Lions scorer alongside Jimmy Constantine.
• Bournemouth were pretty awful and they only woke up in the last five minutes of the first half.
• At half-time, Howe went offensive and brought on striker Callum Wilson for defender Jordan Lee. Marc Pugh slotted into the right-back spot.
• And it got worse for Bournemouth in the 49th minute. Morison’s cross-shot was saved by Federici but it rebounded off the onrushing Shaun Cummings and into the net.
• Millwall reached the final in 2004 and that seems a very long time ago. Just to reach the fourth round is a decent achievement.

“I think Neil has done a great job and the crowd played their part. They’ll be very pleased with their afternoon.

“Whenever you come here you expect that atmosphere and expect the fans to get behind their team. From our perspective we have got to better at dealing with that – it’s only noise.

“I’ve got no complaints. In terms of the result, Millwall deserved it.”
