Only way is Wembley

Chelsea want to play at Wembley like Tottenham when Stamford Bridge expansion goes ahead in 2018

Current Premier League leaders are waiting on planning permission and if successful will need a new home

CHELSEA want to move into Wembley as soon as Tottenham leave in 2018.

The current Premier League leaders are expected to get the go ahead for planning permission on their £500million extension to Stamford Bridge.

When that begins next year, Antonio Conte's side are looking to play games at the home of the football... as soon as Spurs move into their new ground.

Tottenham are confident their state-of-the-art complex will be ready for the start of the 2018-19 season.

That gives them just enough time to leave Wembley free for the Blues to jump in while work commences in West London.

But any delay in construction at the new 61,000-seat White Hart Lane could spell massive complications for Chelsea.

But yet more complications then set in, such as the stadium's agreement with Brent Council not to have more than 37 major events each year.

Chelsea look to move into their new stadium for the start of the 2021-22 season.
