SOUTHAMPTON are plotting a £17million move for Napoli forward Manolo Gabbiadini to solve their striker problem.
The Saints have lost their past three games and scored just twice in the process.
First-choice hitman Charlie Austin has been lost to long-term injury and that leaves boss Claude Puel searching for answers.
Now, according to the , the solution could come in the form of the Serie A striker.
Italy international Gabbiadini has previously caught the eye of Everton, with the Goodison side sending scouts to check on his progress.
Meanwhile, Bundesliga strugglers Wolfsburg, who recently sold Julian Draxler to Paris Saint-Germain, are also said to be interested.
Gabbiadini, 25, has previously played for Atalanta, Bologna and Sampdoria and finished runner-up in Serie A with Napoli last season, nine points behind Juventus.
He has scored twice so far this season.
