City boss not in a hurry to fix defence that has been far below par this season

SunSport reported in July that City were chasing the defender.

The Spanish club are apparently willing to sell, with Marin insisting that the Premier League club can afford the release clauses on both players.

But Guardiola is willing to stick with Nicolas Otamendi and John Stones, rather than develop Hernandez.

Otamendi is the one whose future is most in doubt, with Guardiola said to be happy with the performances of England international Stones.

Hernandez is not yet a regular at the Vicente Calderon, he has only made four starts in La Liga, with Diego Simeone's preferred pairing Diego Godin and City flop Stefan Savic.
