West Ham v Manchester United: Antonio Valencia and Jesse Lingard miss sitters at the London Stadium
Valencia sees shot saved by Darren Randolph from inside the six yard box while Jesse Lingard hits rebound against the post
ANTONIO VALENCIA and Jesse Lingard left fans in shock with a pair of dreadful misses from inside the six yard box at West Ham.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic chipped a brilliant cross into Henrikh Mkhitaryan, who played it to Valencia to tap home.
The Ecuadorian, who was not flagged despite looking to have been in an offside position, was denied by a fantastic save by Darren Randolph on the line, leaving Lingard to do the honours of giving United the lead.
But the England winger somehow tapped the ball against the post and nobody could believe what they were seeing.
United eventually did get the breakthrough with second half goals from Juan Mata and Zlatan Ibrahimovic against a ten-man West Ham side.
Sofiane Feghouli was controversially given his marching orders in the 15th minute for a late tackle on Phil Jones.
Speaking on Sky Sports, Gary Neville said of the dismissal: “Think of the red card two-footed sending off we have seen – it’s not one of those.
“It’s a poor decision and the West Ham fans are letting Mike Dean know.”
