Manchester City transfer news: Jesus Navas closing in on a return to boyhood club Sevilla once his contract expires at the end of the season

Winger built his reputation at the La Liga side before making an Etihad switch in the summer of 2013

JESUS NAVAS is in talks over a potential return back to boyhood club Sevilla at the end of the season.

The winger's Manchester City contract expires in the summer and Pep Guardiola has no plans in extending his current deal as he looks to revamp his squad.

The 31-year-old is now free to talk to clubs across Europe and can sign a pre-contract during the January transfer window.

, Navas and Sevilla have held positive talks over a move with the winger longing for a return back to the club he left four years ago.

The report claims that discussions over a transfer to the La Liga side have been ongoing since last summer but Navas was keen to see out his City contract.

Navas has been forced to fight for his place in Guardiola's first team this season having made just five Premier League starts.

The speed merchant is still searching for his first goal or assist in any competition this campaign.

Navas, who joined City in 2013 for £14.9million, played 285 times for Sevilla after joining their youth-set up at the age of 15.

Meanwhile City fans may not need to wait long to see one Jesus replaced with another.

Gabriel Jesus touched down in Manchester on New Year's Day and boss Pep Guardiola will not give him long to settle in before handing him his debut.
