Chinese Super League beckons for Joao Moutinho as Monaco look to sell to fit in with Fifa’s financial fair play

Inter Milan are also believed to be sniffing around the Portuguese midfielder, but couldn't compete with China's wages

JOAO MOUTINHO is the next big name linked with a move to the Chinese Super League.

The Portuguese midfielder has been touted with a move away from French side Monaco as the club aim to satisfy the Fifa Financial Fair Play rules.

Moutinho is believed to be earning at least £110,000 PER WEEK at Monaco.

His agent, Jorge Mendes, confirmed to that his next destination could be China, but also added that Inter Milan are a possibility.

Moutinho would cost around £12.5million to prise away from the French Principality.

The 30-year-old has long been expected to one day make the move to the Premier League.

In September last year Moutinho admitted he was just ‘minutes’ away from signing for Tottenham in a £24million deal in 2012.

The 30-year-old jetted into London on transfer deadline day to get a move over the line, but the relevant paperwork was not sent off in time and the deal collapsed.

Spurs then tried to sign him again in 2013, but Moutinho instead opted for the glitz and glamour of moneybags Monaco.

And the playmaker insists he has no regrets about his failed move to White Hart Lane, telling reporters: "It’s true, I was a few minutes from signing for Spurs."

SunSport revealed this morning that one player who WON'T be joining the Chinese Super League revolution is John Obi Mikel.

The Chelsea midfielder is believed to have agreed a four-year contract with Spanish side Valencia, and is expected to complete the free transfer move this month.
