Everton boss Ronald Koeman is an admirer and thought he was close to doing a deal last summer.

Juventus and Barcelona then joined the race for the 76-cap international.

Chelsea boss Antonio Conte has also been linked with a move recently.

But Belgian news outlet RTBF reckon that a deal is already done for Witsel to move to the Chinese Super League.

Carlos Tevez recently became the best-paid player in the world after signing an incredible £615,000-a-week contract with Shanghai Shenhua.

And that followed Oscar leaving Chelsea to trouser a mega £500,000 for every seven days work with city rivals Shanghai SIPG.

There is no doubt that Witsel has talent.

But the 27-year-old holding midfielder would not get a deal close to that kind of money from any club in Europe and will surely be laughing all the way to the bank if he can pull off the deal.

The Belgian reports believe that Witsel could be set to team up with Oscar at Shanghai SIPG.

Former Spurs chief Andre Villas-Boas is in charge, who bossed Witsel during two years in charge of Zenit.
