But not to matter, the 30-year-old flicked his left foot at the ball and directed it brilliantly past Eagles keeper Wayne Hennessey via the underside of the bar.

Manchester United ace Mkhitaryan scored a similar goal against Sunderland on Boxing Day as United ran out to a 3-1 win.

This latest strike from Giroud sparked debate on social media as to which one was better.

Many were tipping Henrikh Mkhitaryans strike to be goal of the season – but which is better?

Mkhitaryan’s goal was met brilliantly by a deep cross from Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

The Armenian also looked like he had overrun the Swede’s cross, but as he leaned forward he flicked out a foot and the ball hit his heel and nestled into the back of the net.

Although in Mkhitaryan’s case, replays showed he was clearly offside – the goal should have never stood.

Now you can vote in our poll and let us know which netbuster was better.
